CS/Root is a project of the Virginia Tech Department of Computer Sciencewith funding from a GO Virginia Region Two grant to support and encourage computer science-focused entrepreneurship, whether it's students on campus or aspiring business leaders from across the Roanoke and New River valleys.

We provide technical advisors to cohort members to plan and develop business concepts and intellectual property from planning to development to demonstration for the market.

CS/root seeks to serve diverse groups of local entrepreneurs, students, and faculty through:

  • mentorship and advising from seasoned technical founders;
  • hands-on training and support to brainstorm, encourage, develop, and implement new technical ideas;
  • networking opportunities that encourage entrepreneurial mindshare and community among computer science-focused entrepreneurs; and
  • growing the diversity of ideas and participants in the regional entrepreneurship community.
